Keith Schroeder
Wisconsin DEN

Keith Schroeder has been an educator for over 20 years. He started his career as a teaching principal in a small elementary school. He has taught virtually every grade PreK-12 thru 12 including teaching at a local Wisconsin technical college. He has been with the School District of Marinette for past 12 years and has recently accepted the position of Howard Suamico School District as Library Media Specialist for Bay Port High School.
"The last years have by far been the most rewarding and challenging years of my career being involved with library media and technology. I love working with staff and assisting them in integrating the ITLS standards into their everyday lessons. I've also enjoyed my storytelling with my Pre-K Students. Every day is different and there's never a dull moment!" The Marinette School District, with 2500 students and 6 buildings, has suffered millions of dollars in budget cuts over the last few years. The most recent cuts have left Keith the lone Library Media Specialist serving the entire district. "It was a difficult road having the library media technology program literally decimated. I was struggling with how I was going to provide services for all staff and students of the district. Then this new position came out of the blue, just at the right time. I’m really looking forward to many years in the Howard-Suamico School District."
The benefits of being a Discovery Educator have really assisted me in keeping up to date on all of the latest trends in educational technology. The webinars and the networking have given me lots of new ideas on how I can use the latest technologies to help serve the Howard Suamico School District in my new position. The support, encouragement, and training have been phenomenal. Most recently he has been a part of the Regional DEN Training Event held in Chicago, Illinois. In his free time, Keith is a Scoutmaster for a Marinette Boy Scout Troop and is adviser for "Wisconsin Web Weavers," an Exploring group of young people age 13-21 that learn about all different forms of technology.
