Lee Kolbert

Lee Kolbert has been an educator in Palm Beach County for 21 years. She has taught 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5 th grades. It was with her 1st and 2nd grade students that she began to integrate technology into the daily curriculum. The most powerful project she can recall is one where they signed up to be email buddies with the athletes at the Nagano Olympics in 1998. With the email correspondences from the athletes, they were able to learn geography and lots of other fun facts from all around the world. Her students were superstars as they were anxious to post the pins & strings leading to copies of the email messages on a huge wall map in the media center. How she wished had unitedstreaming and Google Earth back then!

As a Technology Program Specialist, Lee's students are now the 12,000 teachers in the Palm Beach County School District ! She supports the teachers' integration of technology into the curriculum and her favorite tool to train is definitely unitedstreaming. Her team maintains a website for the teachers to access valuable resources at www.palmbeachlearns.org and the elementary page is one of her favorite projects. Lee is the first DEN member in Palm Beach County has been an incredible encourager to her teachers and our growning DEN. Congratulations, Lee. You are an amazing asset to the DEN.
