MaryAnn is the South Carolina DEN Leadership Chair and has been a STAR DEN member since May of 2006. She works as a Technology Education Specialist in Columbia, SC and has been in education for 9 years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, a Masters in Instructional Technology, and is working to complete her second Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Administrative certificate. Prior to training teachers, she taught middle and high school social studies in traditional and wireless classroom settings. MaryAnn loves how technology can enhance a classroom and engage student learning. Her obsession for technology always flowed in to her classroom. Now as a technology trainer she is able to share her passion for technology integration for 10 schools in Richland County School District One. Her latest fascination is with Web 2.0 tools; blogs, wikis, podcasting, iPods, social networking, etc.

As a STAR Discovery Educator, MaryAnn has held over 150 Discovery training events, and participated in both the 2006 DEN Regional Institute in Atlanta and the 2007 DEN National Institute at Silver Spring. She was thrilled to be interviewed for a Conference Connection podcast at NECC 2007 with Steve Dembo, Tom Turner and Tim Wilson. MaryAnn says the best part of being a DEN member is, “how many educators you meet. Not only do you connect on a professional level and share ideas but you also make friends. Discovery has given educators a portal to connect, share, and learn.”
