effective record keeping strategies of student work

I am always thinking of how to effectively keep records of all my students' accademic actvities. I want to who is taking notes, turning in assignments, doing class work, warm-ups, and also note each student daily behavior. Does anyone have something to share that can be really helpful with less stress!

I met a buisness technology teacher at the FETC conference that uses sharepoint for student/teacher contact. She posts a question they have to answer each day. They log in and answer the question. It can be about an assignment, a quiz question or just how is their day? Sharepoint can have other ways of keeping track of things too. I do not use it, but know it can be done. She teaches in a high school in Illinois.
