Hi!

I have a teacher (I'm an ITRT) that would like to find a program that takes a recording of someone speaking and makes transcripts of it.  I know of programs that will take written words to audio, but is there a program that does the opposite?  Thanks for any help!

I haven't tried it, but:

I think you can use an audio file or transcribe from the microphone with this software.

If you are using a microphone and have Windows XP Professional or Home Edition, the OS should have come with Speech Tools - you just have to complete a training session by speaking into the computer's microphone. The program gives you the text to read aloud. I wish I could tell you that I've tried it, but I haven't. Here's a link for how to use the MS speech recognition tool (if you have it, there are probably icons on your desktop toolbar of a microphone, a microphone in front of a document (Speech Tools), and a help icon.):
